BREAKING: Purdue hires Barry Odom as Their Next Football Coach
On Sunday, it was announced, that Barry Odom has been hired as the next football coach for the Purdue Boilermakers. The 48 year old Lawton Oklahoma Native leaves a UNLV program where he saw multiple winning seasons and bowl appearances. Prior to that, Odom coached at Missouri, achieving a .500 (25-25) record in the SEC.
Since then, Odom took over at UNLV, achieving a 19-8 record, good for a first and second place finish in the Mountain West. In total, Odom has a 44-33 overall head coaching record.
Known for his effective offense and large personality, Odom will surely bring excitement to the Purdue Football team. It will be interesting to see how much of his staff will transfer over from his UNLV job.
Nonetheless, Odom is an established head coach, with proven success over the years. This type of known productivity is exactly what the Boilermakers need, a seasoned professional, with a proven track record.
It will be a tall order for the new head coach, as Purdue is coming off one of the (if not the) worst seasons in Boilermaker history. With a tremendous total of contributing players leaving for the transfer portal, Odom has his work cut out for him.
